Note: that whilst this update has been released you might not see it straight away in your environment as Microsoft are pushing this out in a phased approach. If you see a message telling you that your computer is not yet ready for the update you will need to wait until it has been released to your computer.

Desktops: Please remember to shutdown/restart your PC when you leave the office this week in order for all patches to be applied. If you are doing updates manually yourself note that this will take about 40 minutes to 1 hour but you can continue working whilst this is happening in the background. You will need to restart before the updates are applied. The steps to complete this can be found here.

Laptops: the automatic installation of the updates generally happens outside of business hours so if you are a laptop user then you will need to leave your laptop on and plugged into a power source overnight or you can also manually install your update by following steps that can be found here. The update will take about 40 minutes to 1 hour but you can continue working whilst this is happening in the background. You will need to restart before the updates are applied.

Please note that this means if you are still on Windows 10 version 1803 you are no longer supported for critical updates and patches from Microsoft. However, for those of you that are covered over a Microsoft 365 enterprise licence, extended support is available until November 2020.
